Barbara Guterman is one of the most remarkable entrepreneurial and civic leaders of her generation. She built a telecommunications company from scratch at twenty-three, took it public as the only woman in her industry, and watched it sell for six billion dollars. Forbes called her “a Woman with a Mission,” and she has appeared on the cover of Reader’s Digest and in many other publications.

Her 40-year career spans large and small company start-ups, both public and private, across telecom, retail, fine jewellery, and the consumer baby products industry with expertise in manufacturing, management, and franchising.

For the past eight years she has founded and led TGIF, a women’s empowerment platform that has coached over one hundred women to take the stage and own their story. As founder of Barbara Guterman Consulting, she now brings that same transformative work to executives and leaders across industries.

She chairs the Menorah Life Foundation, serves as Immediate Past President of Congregation B’nai Tzedek, and leads the boards of KEEN Greater DC and So What Else — Montgomery County’s largest food bank, which served over three hundred thousand individuals last year alone.
